Description of the research program

Area of expertise and research:
– Design of integrated circuits and electronic and optoelectronic systems.
– Instrumentation for radiation detectors.
– Design of 3D digital Silicon Photomultiplier (3DdSiPM).
– Design of Single Photon Avalanche Diodes (SPAD)
– 3D assembly of integrated circuits.
– Design of Time to Digital Converter (TDC)
– Silicon interposer.

Research activities:

Medical imaging:
– Integrated circuits for dual-modal Positron Emission Tomography (PET)/Computed Tomography (CT) scanners with time-of-flight capability.

Particle Physics:
– Member of the next Enriched Xenon Observatory (nEXO) collaboration, for the study of neutrinoless double beta decay. International collaboration of more than 150 scientists with a planned budget of 250 M$USD. Realization of 3DdSiPM operated at the cryogenic temperature of liquid xenon.
– Production of 3DdSiPM for the study of dark matter, operated at cryogenic temperature in liquid argon.
Quantum sensor:
Realization of a 3DdSiPM for the distribution of quantum keys between the earth and a satellite.
