ReSMiQ scholarship supplement for graduate students
In order to promote collaboration and the exchange of ideas within ReSMiQ, it was decided to set up financial aid programs in the form of additional scholarships for graduate students.
1. General eligibility conditions
In order to be eligible for any of our scholarship supplement programs, the applicant must first meet the following conditions:
- The candidate must be supervised by at least two (2) co-researcher professors affiliated with one of the partner institutions.
- The applicant must be registered full time in one of the research master's or Ph.D. programs of one of the partner institutions for the entire duration of the scholarship.
- The project must be linked to the scientific programming of ReSMiQ.
- The applicant must not hold ReSMiQ funding at the start of the grant to which they are applying.
- The applicant can only apply for one scholarship or financial aid in the same competition.
- Applicants educated in North America must show a GPA above or equal to the national standard of excellence; applicants educated abroad must show that their GPA is above or equal to the third quartile, i.e., they rank in the top 25%.
- The applicant must present examples of collaborations between the researchers who co-direct the project, through publications in which both co-directors appear in the list of authors.
2. Principles of assessment and award
The files deemed admissible and which will be presented to the selection committee will be evaluated according to the following principles:
- Excellence of academic record and research potential.
- Participation in various ReSMiQ activities (conferences, intensive courses, seminars, colloquiums, NEWCAS, etc.).
The final selection of recipients will follow principles of equity and diversity in terms of representativeness of the partner institutions with which the candidates are affiliated.

4. Scholarship supplement programs
In addition to the general conditions, each program has specific conditions and characteristics.
4.1 ReSMiQ scholarship supplement for M.Sc. (2nd cycle)
4.1.1 Characteristics
- For a duration of 12 months.
- Covering the period from September 1, 2025 to August 31, 2026.
4.1.2 Specific eligibility conditions
In addition to the general eligibility conditions as stated above (see § 1), the applicant for the M.Sc. scholarship supplement competition must meet the following specific conditions:
- The applicant must demonstrate that he cannot obtain adequate financing from national or international sources.
- The applicant cannot have received this ReSMiQ grant for a period of more than twenty-four (24) months, consecutive or not.
- The eligibility period for candidates is two (2) years after the start of the M.Sc. program, i.e. to be eligible the applicant must not have completed more than 2 years in the M.Sc. program at the time of the deadline of this competition.
- The applicant must clearly link their project to one of ReSMiQ's research areas by demonstrating how the project fits into the research program and objectives of the center.
The student who has previously been awarded a ReSMiQ graduate scholarship must explain in his letter of intent the impact and benefits that the financial support received has had on his research project.
4.1.3 Amount allocated and conditions for granting
The amount granted by ReSMiQ is 9,000 $, and the co-supervisors undertake to supplement it with a minimum amount of 8,500$.
Conditions for granting
The terms of the agreement must be determined before filing the application and be described in the form in the section dedicated to this purpose. The terms include the amounts paid by the co-supervisors, the minimum number of hours that the student must devote to his research, as well as any other form of arrangement between the parties concerning the remuneration that the student may obtain outside of his research activities.
Declaration of the Fellow and Co-Supervisors
The student who receives a scholarship supplement will commit, via a signed declaration, to dedicate a minimum amount of time to their research work as agreed with their supervisors, and undertakes to work on the subject as presented in the application. To obtain the amount awarded by ReSMiQ, the recipient and co-supervisors must complete and sign a declaration setting out the parameters of the agreement as follows:
– the distribution of the amounts that the co-supervisors will pay.
– The minimum number of hours that the student must devote to his research work.
– Any form of arrangement between the parties relating to remuneration
4.1.4 Evaluation criteria
Applications deemed admissible and presented to the selection committee will be evaluated according to the following criteria and their respective weighting:
1) Excellence of the academic record (50 %):
a) University record (transcripts and relative ranking when available);
b) Recognitions (prizes, distinctions and scholarships obtained);
c) Relevance of the program and courses taken and duration of previous studies to the proposed research.
2) Research potential (30 %)
a) Proposed research (relevance to the scientific program and the objectives of ReSMiQ, originality, clarity and coherence of the problem, relevance of the methodology, feasibility, realism of the schedule, impact of the work and planned contributions).
b) Quality of co-management supervision
c) Experience relevant to the proposed research field (participation in research projects, training courses, assistantships, etc.);
d) The quality and originality of scientific contributions (publications, patents, reports, posters, abstracts, monographs, presentations, products resulting from the application of knowledge, etc.).
3) Overall assessment (15 %)
a) Justification of the impossibility of obtaining funding from other national or international sources and of the impact and benefits that the financial support previously received had on your research project (if applicable);
b) Participation in various ReSMiQ activities (conferences, intensive courses, seminars or webinars, colloquiums, NEWCAS, etc.)
c) Work experience, leadership, and organization or management of projects (academic or non-academic);
d) Volunteering, community projects, civic and community involvement, event organization, etc.;
e) Taking into account United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, including equity, diversity and inclusion (can be done through the proposed research, science-society dialogue activities or engagement activities).
4) Presentation of the file (5 %)
a) General presentation of the file highlighting the stated evaluation criteria.
4.1.5 Preparation of the application
Any file MUST BE COMPLETED PROPERLY AND SUBMITTED VIA THE ONLINE FORM and contain the following elements:
- THE application form duly completed
- The curriculum vitae must contain:
- name, address and at least one telephone number
- an email address
- status in Canada
- previous experiences
- the diplomas obtained
- scholarships, awards and publications.
- Official transcripts from undergraduate studies issued by the registrar (one PDF + 1 original sent to the ReSMiQ administrative office).
4.2 ReSMiQ scholarship supplement for Ph.D. (3rd cycle)
4.2.1 Characteristics
- For a duration of 12 months.
- Covering the period from September 1, 2025 to August 31, 2026.
4.2.2 Specific eligibility conditions
In addition to the general eligibility conditions as stated above (see § 1), the applicant for the Ph.D. scholarship competition must meet the following specific conditions:
- The applicant must demonstrate that he cannot obtain adequate financing from national or international sources.
- The applicant cannot have received this ReSMiQ grant for a period of more than twenty-four (24) months, consecutive or not.
- The eligibility period for candidates is three (3) years after the start of the Ph.D. program, i.e. to be eligible the applicant must not have completed more than 3 years in the Ph.D. program at the time of the deadline of this competition.
- The applicant must clearly link their project to one of ReSMiQ's research areas by demonstrating how the project fits into the research program and objectives of the center.
- Students who have previously been awarded a ReSMiQ postgraduate scholarship must outline in their letter of intent the impact and benefits that the financial support received has had on their research project.
4.2.3 Amount allocated and conditions for granting
The amount granted is 12,000 $, and the co-supervisors undertake to contribute a minimum additional amount of 9,000 $.

c) Experience relevant to the proposed research field (participation in research projects, training courses, assistantships, etc.);
(d) The quality and originality of scientific contributions (e.g. publications, patents, reports, posters, abstracts, monographs, presentations, knowledge translation products, etc.).
e) Judgment and critical thinking, the ability to apply skills and knowledge, initiative and autonomy.
(f) Ability or potential to communicate clearly and logically, in writing and orally, theoretical, technical or scientific concepts.
(g) Responsible and ethical conduct of research (rigorous analysis, commitment to safety and dissemination of research results and adherence to professional standards);
2) Academic record (30 %):
a) University record (transcripts and relative ranking when available);
b) Recognitions (prizes, distinctions and scholarships obtained);
c) Relevance of the programs and courses taken and duration of previous studies to the proposed research.
3) Overall assessment (15 %)

4) Presentation of the file (5 %)

4.3.1 Characteristics
- For a duration of 12 months.
- Covering the period from September 1, 2025 to August 31, 2026.
4.3.2 Specific eligibility conditions
In addition to the general eligibility conditions as stated above (see § 1), the applicant for the end-of-doctoral studies scholarship supplement competition must meet the following specific conditions:
- The applicant must demonstrate that he cannot obtain adequate financing from national or international sources.
- The applicant must have completed more than 3 years in the Ph.D. program at the time of awarding this scholarship.
- The applicant must clearly link their project to one of ReSMiQ's research areas by demonstrating how the project fits into the research program and objectives of the center.
- The applicant must explain why their doctoral study program lasts more than 3 years.
- Students who have previously been awarded a ReSMiQ postgraduate scholarship must outline in their letter of intent the impact and benefits that the financial support received has had on their research project.
- The applicant cannot receive this ReSMiQ grant more than once.
4.3.3 Amount allocated and conditions for granting
The amount granted is 12,000 $, and the co-supervisors undertake to contribute a minimum additional amount of 9,000 $.

5.2 Deposit Method
Applications must be completed via the online form.
Incomplete or late applications will not be considered, nor will applications sent by anyone other than the candidate himself.

6. Awarding of scholarships and announcement of results
The result will be communicated by email to the applicant with a copy to the project directors. The average time for announcing results is 4 to 6 weeks from the submission deadline.
7. Payment of the scholarship or financial aid
In the event where the recipient's study program would be interrupted before the date the scholarship or financial aid expires, the amount paid will be adjusted based on the number of months during which the recipient was eligible to receive the scholarship or financial aid. In this specific case, the recipient will be notified of the revised amount.
