ReSMiQ Fellowship for Postdoctoral Fellows
In order to promote collaboration and the exchange of ideas within ReSMiQ, it was decided to set up financial assistance in the form of scholarships for postdoctoral trainees as described below.
1. Eligibility conditions
- The project must be co-directed by at least two professors who are regular or associate members of ReSMiQ, each affiliated with one of the partner institutions (see § 4). The two co-directors must be affiliated with separate institutions.
- The applicant must have completed his or her doctoral studies and obtained his or her Ph.D. within the last five (5) years or be in the process of obtaining his or her Ph.D. within eight (8) months of the end date of the competition.
- The project must be linked to the scientific programming of ReSMiQ.
- A trainee cannot receive a ReSMiQ postdoctoral grant for a period of more than two (2) years, consecutive or not.
- The postdoctoral internship cannot be held at the same institution from which the student obtained his Ph.D.
- Postdoctoral studies cannot be supervised by the directors who supervised the candidate during doctoral studies.
- At the time of application, the candidate must not hold funding from ReSMiQ and cannot hold another scholarship similar to that offered by NSERC or FQRNT.
- The candidate who has previously been awarded a ReSMiQ postdoctoral fellowship must explain in their letter of intent the impact and benefits that the financial support received has had on their research project.
2. Characteristics
- For a duration of one year.
- Covering the period from January 1, 2024 to December 31, 2024.
- The amount allocated is 25,000 $.
3. Selection criteria
- Be eligible according to the conditions stipulated above.
- Excellence of academic record and research potential.
- Participation in various ReSMiQ activities (conferences, intensive courses, seminars, colloquiums, NEWCAS, etc.)
- The evaluation criteria and their respective weighting are:
- Publications – 40%
- Research project – 20%
- Awards, Scholarships and Distinctions – 10%
- Recent diplomas – 10%
- Other relevant experience – 10%
- Presentation of the file – 10%
The final selection of recipients will follow principles of equity and diversity in terms of representativeness of the partner institutions with which the candidates are affiliated.

5. Preparation of the application
Any file MUST BE PROPERLY ASSEMBLED AND SUBMITTED IN PDF FORMAT (ONE FILE ONLY) and contain the following information:
- THE application form duly completed.
- A cover letter (1 page, single-spaced, 12 points) signed by the candidate and all co-directors involved.
- A description of the project (2 pages, single-spaced, 12 points).
- Proof of obtaining the Ph.D. (original official document or copy certified by one of the co-directors) or official letter indicating the expected date of obtaining the diploma.
- An up-to-date curriculum vitae of no more than 4 pages containing:
- First and last name
- Current addresses
- at least one (1) telephone number
- Email address
- Status in Canada
- University education and diplomas obtained.
- Previous experiences
- Publications, patents, prizes and grants obtained
- Any other relevant scientific data.
6. Submission of the application
6.1 Filing Schedule
Applications must reach the ReSMiQ administrative offices no later than February 26, 2024.
6.2 Deposit Method
Applications must be submitted via the online form.
7. Awarding of scholarships and announcement of results
The result will be communicated by email to the applicant with a copy to the project directors. The average time for announcing results is 4 weeks from the submission deadline.
