Demonstration Project Competition

This competition is open to all students registered full-time at a university (undergraduate, M.Sc. and Ph.D.) or a college/CEGEP in the province of Quebec.
Undergraduate and college students (level 1)
Topics: Design and implementation of microelectronic devices using discrete electronic components.
Applications: Consumer electronics.
Price : 1000$ for the 11st place, 600$ for the 2th place, 400$ for third place.
Graduate students (level 2)
Topics: Design and implementation of microsystems, integrated circuits, MEMS and integrated microfluidic devices and any other subject of interest to the participating strategic groups and which could lead to collaborations with ReSMIQ.
Applications: Biomedical, wireless, communication, industrial devices and any other application involving microsystems.
Price : 1500$ for the 11st place, 1000$ for the 2th place, 600$ for third place.

Please fill out the project proposal form (DOC, PDF) and submit it via the page online file submission (select the Microsystems Demonstration Competition). IMPORTANT : You must attach to the form a photo of the device or assembly of devices that you propose to present, accompanied by a brief description of each of the elements.
Eligibility
To be eligible for the JIR competition, keynote speakers must be registered full-time as an undergraduate (level 1) or graduate (level 2) student at a Quebec university, or as a college/CEGEP student in the province of Quebec (level 1) at the time the competition is held.
Selection criteria
The project must be scientifically valid and technically functional. Each project should be complete in order to present results without the use of test equipment or special setup. The project must present an innovative technique or demonstrate a significant improvement over a conventional method.
Presentation format
Selected candidates will have the opportunity to make a 3-minute oral presentation via a PowerPoint slideshow followed by an on-site demonstration of their device.
Competition
The main event of ReSMiQ Innovation Day is a competition in which undergraduate and graduate students demonstrate their scientific and technical expertise. The competition will take place in two parts:
Part 1: My project in 180·106 μs – Each candidate will present their project via a 3-minute slideshow
Part 2: My demo in action – Live demonstration of the operation of a microsystem
A jury will select the 3 best projects from each of the two categories.

This competition is open to all graduate students affiliated with ReSMiQ.
Eligibility requirements
- The student must be enrolled full-time in one of the research master's or Ph.D. programs at one of the partner institutions at the time of submitting the communication proposal.
- The student must be supervised by at least one regular or associate member of ReSMiQ.
- The project must be linked to the research areas of ReSMiQ.
Award of Excellence
A jury specially formed for this occasion will select the three (3) best presentations which will receive a cash prize: 750$ (1st prize), 550$ (2nd prize) and 350$ (3rd prize).
