Summary: Seminar on integrated active antennas covering a wide frequency range from millimeter waves to sub-THz waves in MMIC and SiGe technologies. The talk will cover a wide variety of applications such as 6G and wireless communications, sensing for telemetry, and automotive applications.
Biographical note:Daniel Segovia-Vargas (Senior Member, IEEE) is a Full Professor of Signal and Communications Theory at the Carlos III University of Madrid (UC3M), where he founded and chairs the GREMA research group. After receiving his PhD (cum laude) from the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid in 1998, he joined UC3M (Assistant → Associate → Full Professor, 2016) and twice directed its School of Engineering (2004-10, 2012-20). He has supervised 80 R&D projects – with partners such as Airbus, Repsol, and Indra – and published over 350 papers on antenna arrays, miniaturized/active antennas, metamaterials, and THz technologies. Segovia-Vargas chaired URSI 2011, served on the organizing committees of EuCAP and EuMC, and since 2018 has been Treasurer of EuMC and EuCAP 2022; he is also Treasurer/Secretary of the IEEE Spanish Section. He received the COIT-Ericsson Award for Best Doctoral Thesis (1998) and an honorary doctorate from the Universidad Católica San Pablo, Peru (2019).
