ReSMiQ Industrial Internship Program

Integrated platform for design and innovation in heterogeneous microsystems

About the program

The Quebec Strategic Cluster for Microsystems (ReSMiQ), a network of excellence in engineering bringing together ten Quebec universities, is proud to launch its new industrial research internship framework program, approved by Mitacs. Designed for ReSMiQ members, this program aims to stimulate innovation by fostering collaborations between academia and industry.

The Mitacs-ReSMiQ framework program provides an accelerated and simplified pathway to the standard Mitacs Accelerate program. It offers a streamlined submission and evaluation process, as well as reduced processing times, to facilitate the start of collaborations and accelerate the implementation of research projects.

Whether you are a researcher, a talented student, or a business, this program is designed for you.

Goals

  • Training a new generation of specialists capable of designing miniaturized devices combining electronics, micromechanics, microfluidics, photonics, smart sensors and embedded artificial intelligence.

  • Putting the expertise of the 10 partner universities in engineering at the service of the technological challenges of Quebec companies.
  • Activation of internships supervised by university experts and mentors from the industrial sector starting in the fall of 2026.

Benefits

  • For companiesGain access to cutting-edge infrastructure and expertise, and double your R&D budget thanks to Mitacs co-financing. (For example: for a project of 15 000 $, your investment: 7500 $, Mitacs grant: 7500 $)
  • For teachers: Mentor students by leading projects on real-world industrial challenges while securing funding for your labs.
  • For students: Boost your career, apply your knowledge to real engineering challenges and receive a competitive scholarship.

The competition is open for 2 years, but to activate an internship starting this autumn 2026 term, you must first submit your pre-authorization request.

Who should submit the application?

The pre-authorization form must be necessarily filled and submitted speak professor-researcher member of the group.

  • StudentsThis competition is for you, but contact your research supervisor to build the project with him.
  • Companies: if you have a technical or scientific need and wish to benefit from this funding, contact a professor in our network.

Step 1: Mandatory pre-authorization

Before completing the official Mitacs form, you must validate the eligibility of your project with the group.

Required elements : the name of the company, the name of the intern and a short summary of the project.

  1. Complete the pre-authorization form:

2. Send it by email to the following address: stages.mitacs@resmiq.org

Step 2: Project evaluation and approval

The selection committee will evaluate the project summary (pre-authorization form) according to its scientific suitability with the research areas of ReSMiQ.

Professors whose projects have been pre-approved will receive the validation notice and the project activation form (Mitacs Form-Part 2) from the internship coordinator.

Please note that a project that does not fall within the research areas cannot be pre-approved for Mitacs funding.

Step 3: Submitting the official Mitacs form - Part 2

Simplified Mitacs Part 2 forms:

  • Applications must be submitted in French or English by research professors for the activation of internships.
  • They must provide details on all project participants – No unidentified trainee can be accepted.
  • May be submitted at any time during the lifetime of the initially approved Part 1.

The time remaining before the expiry date of a Part 1 does not, however, limit the duration of projects that can be submitted – applicants may submit longer projects provided they comply with all the rules in force for internship units with regard to the level of trainees.

Application submission deadline: April 30, 2028. Submitted projects may continue beyond this date.
